What it is
Charms that Edward Lovett bought from working people and sailors (1890s–1920s) and that are now in the Wellcome and Pitt Rivers collections: moles’ feet for toothache, hare’s feet, holed hagstones against witches, cauls against drowning, nutmegs and shark teeth.
Making yours
Mostly found or natural objects with simple mounts, cloth bags and string. Easy and cheap to recreate.
