What it is
Tubular or rectangular silver and gold cases worn on the arm or neck by Hindus (kavacha, “armour”) and Muslims (ta’wiz) alike, holding written mantras, yantras or verses.
Making yours
4–10 cm tube or box with two or three loops, in repoussé, enamel (meenakari) or kundan-set stones.
