Khamsa / Hand of Fatima

What it is
The five-fingered hand (khamsa, “five”) raised against the evil eye, used across the Maghreb, the Middle East and Jewish communities. “Five in your eye” (khamsa fi ‘aynek) is its spoken twin.
Making yours
3–10 cm pierced, engraved or enamelled silver. Often symmetrical with two thumbs, and set with an eye, fish, birds or a star.
