Cippi of Horus (healing stelae)
What it is
Small magical stelae showing the child Horus standing on crocodiles and gripping snakes and scorpions, covered in spells. Water poured over them absorbed the magic and was drunk to cure bites and stings. Small versions were worn.Making yours
Pocket versions 4–10 cm; temple versions up to 50 cm. Dark stone or steatite, carved in low relief with dense hieroglyphs on back and sides.
